Jim Wells County, TX — May 16, 2023, Yoli Gaona was killed and two were injured following an 18-wheeler accident at 10:08 p.m. along U.S. 281.
Preliminary details about the accident said that it occurred in the area of the U.S. Highway 281 and County Road 116 intersection.
According to officials, 72-year-old Yoli De Los Angeles Gaona was in a GMC Terrain going eastbound along County Road 116. As the GMC crossed into the intersection, a northbound 18-wheeler crashed into the GMC.
As a result of the collision, Gaona sustained fatal injuries. Two people in the GMC were said to have incapacitating injuries. They were identified only as a 52-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy. The truck driver apparently was not hurt.
Currently, the exact factors surrounding the crash cannot be confirmed. Additional details are pending further investigations.
