UPDATE (July 14, 2023): Recent reports have identified the two victims killed in the tanker accident. They were identified as 29-year-old Yasmin Torres Coca and 30-year-old Ayan Garcia Calvard. No further information has been released at this time.
UPDATE (June 21, 2023): Recent information from authorities has yet to identify the victims involved in the accident. However, officials say the victims were a family that recently arrived to Texas and are from Cuba. Right now, investigations into the factors surrounding the crash are still ongoing.
Port Arthur, TX — June 5, 2023, two people were killed and three were injured following a semi-truck accident at around midnight on Highway 73.
Preliminary information about the fatal wreck indicated that the crash happened in the area of Highway 73 and West Port Arthur Road.

According to officials, a dodge Charger was traveling eastbound along the highway at the time. For reasons which are not clear currently, a tanker truck reportedly crashed into the back of the Charger. The tanker ended up overturning along the median.
Two people in the Charger succumbed to fatal injuries as a result of the crash. They were identified only as a man and a woman. A teenager involved was flown from the scene for treatment of critical injuries. It appears two others were taken to a hospital in Beaumont for treatment of their injuries, but their conditions weren’t specified.
No other injuries have been confirmed at this time. Right now, the exact cause of the crash also remains unclear. No charges or citations have been reported. Investigations are ongoing.
