The victim who had been driving the other vehicle suffered injuries of unknown severity, as well. They were transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.

How Did This Accident Occur?
When people hear about accidents caused by cars veering into the oncoming lanes of a highway, many are quick to assume it was caused by driver error. While that is a distinct possibility, I’m not so eager to settle on that conclusion. Why? Because over the last thirty years, I have seen plenty of similar cases in which evidence of less likely causes ended up being unearthed through thorough investigation.
To be clear, I’m not implying that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation does. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the accident could have been a result of something gone wrong with the vehicle itself rather than driver error. What if, for example, it was having issues with its steering mechanism? True, it’s not extremely likely, but neither is it outside of the realm of possibility.
Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the wrong-way vehicle. That way any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that had a role in the wreck won’t be allowed to just fly under the radar. After all, the people affected by this accident—especially the loved ones left behind by the deceased—deserve real answers backed by solid evidence. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
