UPDATE (October 10, 2024): Authorities identified the victim killed in the accident as 47-year-old Willie Simmons Jr. Authorities have not mentioned if they’ve identified the driver yet. Hopefully they can continue putting out information to the public. Someone is often able to connect the dots and come forward with new details. Houston, TX — August 23, 2024, a man was killed following a pedestrian versus hit-and-run car accident just after 11:00 p.m. along U.S. Highway 59.
According to authorities, a 47-year-old man was on foot along U.S. 59, Southwest Freeway, in the vicinity northeast of the Sam Houston Tollway when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the pedestrian was struck by a northbound vehicle of unknown make or model. It allegedly left the scene of the accident, the person(s) inside failing to stop and render aid of any sort to the victim. The man who was struck suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
