How Did This Accident Occur?
A lot of people will look at this accident and assume that the motorcyclist was at fault for the accident. Honestly, though, I think motorcyclists get a bad rap. Over the last three decades, I’ve seen plenty of cases where the motorcyclist was not at fault, despite how things appeared on the surface. As such, I don’t jump to those conclusions. It’s much better to wait until after the investigation is done to make any judgements.
To be transparent, I certainly do not know more about this specific crash than anyone else. It’s just that motorcycles, despite being smaller than passenger vehicles, are still complex machines. Feel free to leave a comment letting me know whether or not you agree, but any number of things might have gone wrong mechanically that had a hand in the wreck. If the authorities in charge of investigating are being thorough, they will get a vehicle inspection done on the motorcycle and the other vehicle. That way, any underlying mechanical issues or product defects can be brought to light.
If, for one reason or another, the authorities do not take that step, a third party investigation can always take up that slack, just to make sure that all the bases are covered. After all, the victim’s loved ones deserve to have real answers that are backed by solid evidence, not assumptions that too quickly heap the blame on the shoulder of the deceased.
