How Did This Accident Occur?
People see single-vehicle crashes and automatically assume the driver must have done something wrong. To be rather blunt, that’s often what happens. But I’ve seen countless similar accidents where investigations showed there were factors the victim couldn’t avoid. Vehicle defects, road hazards, medical emergencies, other reckless drivers who flee the scene—likely or not, these things happen.
It’s up to investigators to dig into the details and come to a well-supported conclusion rather than only focusing on the most likely possible explanations. If authorities are doing that here, that would be good to know. In my experience, though, it’s best to follow up with them and make sure rather than taking them for granted when there could be time-sensitive evidence on the line. I don’t see any reason right now why this crash would be an exception to that.
