Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When I hear about a crash like the one reported in Del Valle, it underscores how important a thorough investigation is to understanding what happened and why. Reports indicate that a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Honda Pilot in an area where a small hill may have limited the driver’s vision. As authorities continue their investigation, three critical questions must be addressed: Did the authorities conduct a thorough investigation? Has anyone considered whether a mechanical defect played a role in the crash? And has all relevant electronic data been collected and preserved?

Addressing these three questions is essential to uncovering the full scope of the crash. Pedestrian accidents often involve a combination of environmental factors, driver behavior and potentially mechanical issues. A comprehensive investigation ensures that all possibilities are thoroughly explored, providing clarity for those affected and helping to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
