Cooke County, TX — April 6, 2023, Wayne Richmond Jones and Beverly June Jones were injured in an alleged drunk driving accident around 6:18 p.m. on I-35 in Cooke County.
Officials report that a Ford Mustang had been driving recklessly striking multiple vehicles and failing to stop prior to the accident.
The same Mustang allegedly attempted an unsafe merge in front of the victim’s Subaru Outback. When the tow vehicles collided the Outback rotated counterclockwise, struck a cable barrier, and then struck a Toyota Tundra. The Mustang continued northbound, but reportedly lost control and struck the median cable barrier.
The Mustang driver, Mr. Jones, and Ms. Jones were all reportedly transported to a hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Police report the Ford Mustang driver was over the legal limit by 0.11% and recommended charging the driver with two accounts of Intoxication Assault.
