Cameron County, TX — June 25, 2023, Vladimir Damian Martinez was killed and another person was hurt after a car accident at around 3:11 a.m. along Highway 48.
Investigators said that the incident took place along the eastbound lanes of the highway south of the Port Isabel area.
According to preliminary investigations, 18-year-old Vladimir Damian Martinez and another person were in a Mercedes-Benz that was going eastbound along Highway 48. For reasons which are unclear, the vehicle traveled out of its lane and across the shoulder. The car then exited the roadway where it flipped over repeatedly.
Martinez was thrown from the vehicle due to the rollover, and he ultimately sustained fatal injuries. The other occupant, who has not been identified at this time, had injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. No one else was hurt, and reports make no mention of other drivers being involved in the crash. Authorities continue their investigations.
