Midland, TX — November 21, 2023, Victoria Davila, Salomon Jimenez Gonzalez, and another were injured following a car accident at 3:30 p.m. on Florida Ave.
Authorities say in preliminary reports that the collision happened at the intersection of East Florida Avenue and South Main Street, and it allegedly involved a drunk driver.

According to current information, 29-year-old Victoria Davila was in a Buick Enclave going northbound along Main Street. At the intersection, police say an eastbound Ford F-250 ran a red light, crashing into Davila’s vehicle. Those two vehicles then hit a Chevy Tahoe and a Chevy pickup along westbound lanes.
Davila was said to have incapacitating injuries resulting from the accident while two people in the Ford had apparently non-incapacitating injuries. The driver of the Ford was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, and authorities say there was a recommendation for DWI charges.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Believe it or not, the Midland-Odessa area has a big problem with drunk driving once you take the population size into account. I’ve sued enough bars and other alcohol providers out in West Texas to know it’s not a problem that will end anytime soon. But my hope is that authorities and communities across the state will become more educated about all the possible steps they can take to address these issues.
From improving public transit to raising awareness through media campaigns to holding negligent alcohol providers accountable, there are many different avenues beyond just criminal charges (as important as those are) through which people can help make our roads safer. I can only hope steps were taken to explore those potential avenues here.
