Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Folks generally think rear-end accidents are always straight-forward. That’s not really true. As common as it is for things like speeding or distracted driving to lead to these incidents, there could be other complex factors to consider. For example, there was an accident a while back where a man hit the back of a truck on a dark highway, and people were quick to jump to the common conclusions. Weeks later, though, investigations revealed the truck had pulled off the shoulder without its lights on. No reasonable person could blame someone for hitting a truck that was all but invisible simply because they were unfortunate enough to be the vehicle in the back. So until there are more details available about this crash, the last thing anyone should do is jump to conclusions.
