Harris County, TX — May 13, 2024, a woman was killed and a man was injured in a pedestrian versus car accident shortly before 7:30 p.m. along Westheimer Road.
According to authorities, a woman was traveling in an eastbound motor vehicle on Westheimer Road in the vicinity of Briarhurst Drive when the accident occurred.
Officials indicate that the vehicle may have been traveling at high speeds leading up to the accident. It reportedly failed to safely maintain its lane of travel, veering off of the roadway and entering the sidewalk area at a bus stop occupied by several pedestrians. Two of the pedestrians—a man and a woman—were reportedly hit by the vehicle, as was a light pole, before the vehicle came to a stop. The woman suffered fatal injuries due to the wreck; the man sustained severe injuries, reports state, and he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
