Omaha, NE — April 10, 2023, Ty Rannals was killed due to an accident where a motorcycle and a truck collided along 132nd Street.
Investigators said that the incident happened at around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of North 132nd Street and West Dodge Road.
It appears that 22-year-old Ty Rannals was on a motorcycle traveling southbound along 132nd. It appears that an oncoming semi-truck was making a left turn onto Dodge when the vehicles collided.

Due to the collision, Rannals sustained fatal injuries. The truck driver apparently received a ticket for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide. Additional details about this are unavailable.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
To be clear up front, I consider these details entirely preliminary, and there would have to be more thorough investigations to draw any final conclusions about what exactly happened here. But what details currently say is more than concerning. Details I can find say that misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide can include a death resulting from a traffic violation. Is that what happened here?
Considering this appears to be an area controlled by traffic signals, did the truck fail to yield? Was it speeding? Was the driver on their phone? Are there other factors contributing to the crash, whether or not those factors were the truck driver’s responsibility? Are there more charges pending? Unless I’m missing something, a misdemeanor homicide by motor vehicle can carry a sentence of up to a year in jail or up $1,000 in fines—sometimes both. I just can’t help wondering if those consequences would rise to the level of a young man losing his life, possibly due to someone else’s mistake.
