Accident Report

March 10, 2026, two people were injured following an alleged intoxicated driver accident at around 3:45 p.m. along US Highway 59.

The crash reportedly happened at East End Boulevard and Loop 390, but the events reportedly began further south. According to police officials, they attempted to pull over a vehicle after receiving multiple calls about a reckless northbound driver. That driver allegedly fled from officers, ultimately crashing into a TxDOT vehicle at the Loop 390 intersection.

Due to the crash, both the TxDOT driver and the alleged runaway driver had apparently non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say they arrested the suspect on charges including DWI and evading arrest. The incident remains under investigation.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It may stand out to folks that the alleged runaway driver here was charged for a DWI, yet this blog says alcohol is not confirmed. That’s because DWIs can apply both to drugs or alcohol. While that may not sound like an important distinction, they can lead down vastly different legal paths.

Where investigations into a driver on drugs may begin and end behind the wheel, investigations involving alcohol can extend to the alcohol provider who gave the alcohol to the driver in the first place. Texas law says alcohol providers can be responsible if they contribute to a serious accident by over-serving the responsible drunk driver. That’s a far more complex legal path for families to navigate than if the driver was just on drugs.

So while authorities may have made an arrest here, the situation may be far from resolved. Ensuring there’s a fair resolution for the victims and families involved should be just as important as ensuring there are just consequences for any wrongdoers. Are those steps being taken here?
