Clark County, AR — May 25, 2023, two were killed, and two others were injured in a train accident near Gum Springs in Clark County, AR.

Authorities indicate that on May 25, a collision occurred when a Silverado pickup truck and a Union Pacific train collided near Gum Springs in Clark County, AR. The crash happened before 2:00 p.m., leaving two people dead and two severely injured.

According to reports, the Silverado driver, Chad Fryar, drove across the railroad tracks as a train approached the crossing. The Silverado, unable to make it across the tracks in time, was hit on the passenger side by the oncoming train.

Investigators have yet to determine what caused the accident but indicate the railroad crossing did not have the standard warning lights or crossbar to alert drivers when a train is approaching.

Fryar and a young passenger were flown to an area hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
Two other young passengers, who have not been identified, died in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
