San Marcos, TX — January 18, 2024, two people were injured in a truck accident that took place just after 8:15 a.m. along State Highway 80.
According to reports, a 19-year-old man was traveling in a northwest bound Ford Explorer SUV on State Highway 80 in the vicinity a little more than a quarter of a mile southeast of S.H. 21 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that the SUV may have been traveling at high speeds leading up to the accident. The Explorer allegedly lost control and went into a skid, crossing over the center median and entering the southeast lanes of the highway. This led to a collision with an oncoming Freightliner truck occupied by a 60-year-old man. The collision caused the SUV to spin into a guardrail after which it went airborne and hit a bridge railing before falling to the ground in a grassy area below the roadway. The 19-year-old was reportedly ejected from the SUV during the crash. After the collision, the Freightliner allegedly spun 180 degrees, coming to a stop facing northwest in the right-most southeast lane.
The 19-year-old incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the incident, while the 60-year-old sustained reportedly minor injuries. Both were transported to local medical facilities by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
