King City, MO — November 21, 2024, two people were injured in a truck accident at approximately 9:15 a.m. along Highway Z.
According to authorities, a 29-year-old Pattonsburg man was traveling in a westbound Ford F-250 pickup truck on Highway Z in the vicinity east of King City when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a side-swipe collision took place between the pickup truck and an eastbound Peterbilt 18-wheeler. The collision caused the pickup truck to swerve to the left, crossing over the center line and entering the oncoming lane of traffic. This led to a secondary collision where the pickup truck struck the front-left of a second eastbound Peterbilt occupied by a 65-year-old man. That impact caused the 18-wheeler to veer off of the roadway, crashing into an embankment and overturning onto its left side.
Both the man from the pickup truck and the man from the second 18-wheeler sustained reportedly serious injuries over the course of the accident. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People might assume crashes involving multiple vehicles stem from simple errors in judgment, but in my experience, such incidents often involve a series of events that require thorough investigation to understand fully.
In this case, the side-swipe collision between the pickup truck and the first 18-wheeler raises immediate questions. Side-swipes typically occur when one vehicle fails to maintain its lane, whether due to distraction, speeding, or poor judgment. Investigators should determine what caused the pickup and the truck to come into contact and whether any actions, such as improper passing or drifting, contributed to the crash. Data from the trucks’ event recorders and any available dashcam footage could shed light on the events leading up to the initial impact.
Another key consideration is whether mechanical or operational issues played a role in the crash. Both commercial trucks and passenger vehicles must be properly maintained to ensure they operate safely on the road. Investigators should examine whether the trucks involved were in safe operating condition, including tires, brakes, and mirrors, and whether their drivers were properly trained and adhering to traffic laws.
Additionally, the trucking companies involved bear responsibility for their role in ensuring safety. Commercial carriers are required to maintain their vehicles and train their drivers to navigate challenging situations on the road. A failure in oversight or a lack of emphasis on safe practices could make a company partially responsible for what occurred.
Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain critical evidence, it’s essential to consider every factor to ensure those impacted by the accident receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
