Jasper County, TX — February 6, 2024, four people were injured in a truck accident at approximately 8:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 96.

According to authorities, a tree trimming truck was at a stop due to mechanical issues on the right shoulder of northbound U.S. 96 in the vicinity north of C.R. 440 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, a northbound Chevy Silverado pickup truck failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered right, entering the shoulder and colliding with the back end of the work truck.

Two men—ages 52 and 22—were reportedly exiting the work truck when the collision occurred. The 52-year-old incurred suspected severe injuries, while the 22-year-old sustained apparently moderate injuries. A 22-year-old man who had not exited the work truck sustained reportedly moderate injuries, as well, while the 29-year-old man behind the wheel of the Silverado was apparently severely injured. All four men were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
