Callahan County, TX — November 7, 2024, a Hempstead man was injured in a truck accident shortly before 12:15 p.m. along Interstate Highway 20.
According to authorities, three men ages 29, 23, and 21 were traveling in an eastbound Ford F-350 pickup truck with a trailer in tow on I.H. 20 just east of Putnam when the accident took place.
Reports state that a Freightliner 18-wheeler with a trailer in tow made a lane change from the left-of two eastbound lanes to the right in front of the pickup truck and trailer. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the pickup truck was unable to avoid a collision with the rear-end of the Freightliner’s trailer. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off of the right side of the road. The pickup truck and trailer came to a stop after crossing over both lanes of the eastbound service road. The semi truck and trailer stopped in the right-of-two eastbound service road lanes.
The 29-year-old from the pickup truck suffered serious injuries as a result of the wreck, according to reports. He was transported to a local medical facility in order to receive necessary treatment.
