Chambers County, TX — May 30, 2023, a driver was killed and a state trooper was injured due to a suspected drunk driver accident early Tuesday along Interstate 10.
Preliminary information about the crash was given, saying that the incident took place north of Anahuac, just east of Wallisville.
According to Department of Public Safety authorities, the incident happened as authorities were attempting to pull over a van. Officers say they suspected the driver was drunk. That van allegedly tried to evade the police, during which the van crashed into a state trooper’s vehicle. The trooper was apparently outside of their vehicle at the time, and they were hit in the process.
The driver of the van was killed as a result of the crash. That person has not been publicly identified. The trooper was taken to a hospital with apparently serious injuries. Currently, there is no confirmation about the factors mentioned in police statements. The cause of the crash has not officially been determined, and other possible explanations are still under investigation.
