Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

With car accidents, it’s important to keep in mind that they aren’t automatically simple just because they’re common. In fact, authorities don’t always provide a reliable story when they investigate car accidents. They can miss important details, misidentify which vehicle did what or whose mistake was whose, and they can even end up blaming someone for something that wasn’t their fault. As often as I’ve had independent investigations confirm police investigations, I’ve also seen countless situations where independent investigations corrected the record following shoddy or incomplete official investigations. Maybe authorities here have been careful in their efforts, but that’s something that I wouldn’t take for granted without extensive clear evidence.
