Without more information, it’s unwise to draw any conclusions. Yet time and time again, people see these kinds of reports and assume they know what happened just because it’s a single-vehicle wreck. They don’t consider how things like mechanical defects, medical emergencies, road hazards, tire blowouts, or missing signage or lighting can cause these accidents without the driver having any control over the situation. Instead they just assume the driver must have done something wrong. As common as that may be, it’s still important to rule out other possibilities. Otherwise, there’s no telling what important details could slip through the cracks. Were authorities more thorough here than their initial statements suggest?
