St. Louis County, MN — March 23, 2023, Theodore Frederickson was injured as the result of an accident involving a school bus in White Township.
Authorities said the incident happened at an intersection in the area of Palo, south of Aurora, at around 7:30 a.m.

Current information says only that a school bus traveling to Mesabi East High School “failed to stop” approaching a crossing. This resulted in the bus crashing into a truck. 53-year-old Theodore Fredrickson was said to be the driver of that truck, and his injuries required air transportation to a hospital. The bus driver and a child apparently had minor injuries.

Right now, additional details are unavailable. However, it’s challenging to envision a scenario where the bus driver didn’t make a mistake. I do always caution folks to take early reports with a grain of salt. There’s no telling what may have slipped through the cracks. But saying a school bus driver “failed to stop” is beyond troubling. They’re tasked with getting our kids to school and back home safely. So what exactly prevented this bus driver from doing so here?
