Dallas, TX — August 13, 2023, Terrance McCray and Larry Walker were killed and one person was hurt after a car hit a house along South Lancaster Road.
Preliminary details about the accident say that it took place at around 3:30 p.m. just off the corner of Gooch Street.

According to officials, 47-year-old Terrance McCray and 44-year-old Larry Walker were in a Hyundai Sonata going southbound on Lamar. For reasons which are not clear at this time, the vehicle apparently veered to the left across northbound lanes of travel, then went off-road. It was there the Hyundai careened through the side of a home. Either the vehicle or debris hit someone who was in that home.
Due to the accident, McCray and Walker sustained fatal injuries. The person inside the home was in unspecified condition. Right now, the cause of the crash is unconfirmed. Authorities suggested speed could be a factor, and they also say toxicology tests are pending.

Speed could be a factor here, though I’m not so sure it would explain just how severely it appears the victims’ car lost control. As for toxicology reports, I would say it’s prudent to always check for drugs or alcohol no matter what happens, though 3:30 p.m. isn’t a very common time of day for that sort of thing.
It makes me wonder what else authorities could be looking into. Mechanical defects, tire failure, road hazards, a medical emergency—even if something seems unlikely, shouldn’t two people losing their lives warrant every step to get answers? Otherwise, investigators might miss something if they’re only focused on what they think the more likely explanation is.
