While things may seem open-and-shut when there’s a driver blamed for running a light, gathering clear evidence should still be a priority. As they say, it’s not what you know; it’s what you can prove.
That’s why it’s important to know how thorough authorities are being in their investigations. Are they pulling cellphone records? Testing for drugs and alcohol? Looking for nearby cameras with a view of the intersection? Inspecting the vehicles for defects? Pulling data from the vehicles?
Likely or not, it’s important all factors are considered so evidence can be preserved early on. If it seems authorities are doing that, that’s good. But if it seems they’re overlooking important details, it may be up to more thorough independent investigators to pick up the slack.
