Copiah County, MS — July 1, 2023, a teenager was killed and Dannie Gatewood was injured due to a multi-truck accident at 4:30 a.m. along I-55.
Preliminary statements about the crash say that it happened along northbound lanes of the interstate. The exact circumstances leading up to the crash are unclear.
Currently, statements say only that a Ford box truck and a Freightliner semi-truck collided. This resulted in a 16-year-old passenger in the Ford being thrown from the vehicle. The teenager was then hit by a Chevy Impala.
As a result of the accident, the teen passenger succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the Ford was identified in reports as 47-year-old Dannie Gatewood, who reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries. Right now, there are no additional details about what caused the crash.
