Henderson County, TX — June 11, 2023, a teenager was killed and Samuel Bautista was injured after a car accident at 2:40 a.m. along F.M. 317.

Preliminary details about the accident say that it took place just outside of Athens along F.M. 317. It involved a 17-year-old girl who, according to authorities, was on foot along the shoulder of the roadway outside of a stationary vehicle.

Teen Killed, Samuel Bautista Injured in Car Accident in Henderson County, TX

19-year-old Samuel Bautista was reportedly driving a Dodge Charger westbound along F.M. 317. ahead of him was a Kia Rio, also driven by a 19-year-old. Police allege that Bautista passed the Kia, then stopped, reportedly to pick up the 17-year-old girl. As the girl was crossing toward Bautista’s vehicle, the Kia allegedly failed to control speed, hitting both the girl and Bautista’s vehicle.

The 17-year-old girl died as a result of the collision. Bautista was treated and released for unspecified injuries. Right now, authorities claim that the Kia driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident and may face charges for intoxication manslaughter. No further information is available at this time.
