Harris County, TX — May 10, 2025, a teenager was killed as the result of a car accident that happened at around 10:45 p.m. along West Fuqua Street.
Preliminary statements released by Harris County officials indicate that the incident took place near the intersection of Fuqua Street and Buffalo Speedway.

Investigators say that a Buick Enclave was going westbound along Fuqua. That vehicle apparently went off the side of the road where it crashed along the median. Due to the accident, a 14-year-old riding in the back of the car reportedly was killed.
Authorities said two others in the vehicle, both also reportedly juveniles, fled the scene but later came back. At least of the teens is reportedly facing charges.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With some of the concerning details surrounding this crash, I have to wonder if authorities are still going to conduct a thorough accident reconstruction. Ultimately, a serious crash occurred here, and someone’s child lost their life. They at least deserve to know all possible contributing factors have been carefully investigated. That’s why it can be helpful to consider these key questions:
- Was the crash scene properly and thoroughly documented?
In chaotic situations, it’s easy for investigators to miss or misinterpret physical evidence. Details like vehicle position, skid marks, and roadway conditions are critical for understanding what happened. If authorities were too focused on other factors, they could easily overlook forensic evidence. - Was the vehicle examined for any possible vehicle defects?
Defects in brakes, steering, or even tire condition can lead to sudden loss of control. If seatbelts or airbags didn’t function as they should have, that can explain the severity of the injuries. These issues require close inspection, ideally before the vehicle is moved or altered. - Was crash-related electronic data preserved?
Many modern vehicles store pre-crash data like speed, braking, and steering inputs. That information, combined with possible phone records or surveillance footage, can help clarify who was driving and how the crash unfolded—but only if it’s collected promptly.
These are the kinds of questions a proper accident reconstruction should have no problem answering. If it seems authorities are coming up short in their own efforts, that may be a sign their own investigations may not have been as thorough as they should have been.
