Obviously, people are keen to know what caused a crash, and that’s certainly important. Sometimes, though, that answer and the answer to what caused someone’s injuries are different. The fact two people were in the same car when it overturned yet only one had apparent serious injuries raises a red flag. Did something fail to protect the passenger that successfully protected the driver? Did their airbag not go off? Was their seatbelt fault? Did their seat assembly come loose? Did the vehicle not withstand the rollover as well as it could have? Likely or not, defects can make crashes far more serious than they otherwise would be with proper safety features. If authorities never looked into that, they may have overlooked something important.
