Calhoun County, AL — January 26, 2024, Tanysia Middlebrooks and her child were killed following an 18-wheeler accident at around 6:00 a.m. on U.S. 431.

According to preliminary details from the Alabama State Troopers, the crash occurred in the area of U.S. Highway 431 and West Lenlock Lane north of town.

It appears that 19-year-old Tanysia Middlebrooks, who was pregnant at the time, was in a vehicle that was on U.S. 431. Due to events which are not clear right now, the vehicle stopped along the highway, and Middlebrooks got out of the vehicle. Middlebrooks was near the vehicle when an 18-wheeler apparently crashed into it, hitting Middlebrooks in the process.

Due to the collision, both Middlebrooks and her unborn child were killed. There were no other reported injuries.

It’s unclear at this time if authorities are considering any charges or citations. They have yet to publicly confirm the cause of the accident.
