Investigators say a woman driving a Ford Explorer was struck by a stray tire while traveling along Interstate 64. Police say the tire became detached from a Jeep Renegade traveling in the westbound lanes along the Interstate. The tire reportedly entered eastbound traffic, hitting the Explorer’s windshield and roof.
Officials confirmed the Ford Explorer driver, Tammy M. Parsons, 53, suffered fatal injuries in the accident. The other Explorer occupants were not injured. Police are continuing to investigate and say charges are pending, but this has not been confirmed at this time.
