Waller County, TX — August 23, 2024, Tabytha Dahle was injured due to an alleged drunk trucker accident at 1:42 p.m. on Interstate 10.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened in the area of F.M. 1489.

According to officials, 32-year-old Tabytha Dahle was in an Audi A3 going westbound along the I-10 service road. After Dahle entered the F.M. 1489 intersection, a southound tractor-trailer reportedly went through a stop sign and crashed into Dahle’s vehicle. Dahle was seriously injured as a result.
The truck driver reportedly continued driving, but was found a short time later with the help of witnesses. The driver was then accused of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, and intoxication assault charges were recommended.

If the allegations here are true, the story here isn’t likely over just because a truck driver may face charges. One key factor to look into is whether or not the truck driver has an employer who should have been able to prevent this crash.
I’ve handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accidents over the years. Frankly, it’s rare that a truck driver just gets up one day and decides to drink and drive. More often than not, there is a pattern of behavior which basic supervision and safety practices would be able to catch. Employers have a responsibility to ensure drivers can do their jobs safely. If they’re not regularly testing for drugs or alcohol, or if they’re ignoring drivers who are clearly a risk to the public, they, too, should be held accountable when their failings lead to people getting hurt.
Is that something authorities are looking into, or is there an accomplice to this serious accident being let off the hook?
