UPDATE (January 26, 2024): Information released by authorities identified the woman killed in the accident as 72-year-old Sylvia Cavazos Moreno. Additional details are unavailable at this time. Authorities also clarified that they believe the fatal crash was the result of the 18-wheeler making an unsafe turn into the path of the vehicle in which Sylvia Moreno was a passenger. It’s unclear right now if any charges were filed.
Victoria County, TX — December 11, 2023, one person was killed and another was injured in a truck accident at approximately 6:45 p.m. along U.S. 59.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the northbound lanes of U.S. 59 a couple of miles south of Victoria.

The cause of the accident is not known at this point in time. It has been confirmed that the incident involved an 18-wheeler and an SUV. One victim—a woman—was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. One other person reportedly sustained injuries during the accident, as well.
