Houston, TX — April 22, 2024, Sylvia Medina-Lopez and one other person were injured in a car accident at approximately 8:30 a.m. along Sam Houston Parkway.

According to authorities, the accident took place on the entrance ramp from the Sam Houston Tollway to Katy Freeway, where traffic conditions were reportedly slow.

Officials indicate that a Ford Expedition occupied by 42-year-old Sylvia Medina-Lopez came to a stop due to traffic the slow traffic conditions. According to reports, an Audi occupied by an 18-year-old man failed to slow appropriately for the traffic, crashing into the rear-end of the Expedition, as a result. The collision caused the Expedition to be pushed into the rear end of a third car which failed to stay at the scene. The sudden stop of the Audi caused the car behind it, a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck, to crash into it, as well.

Medina-Lopez suffered suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. The man from the Audi may have sustained minor injuries as well. Neither, however, accepted transport to medical facilities by EMS in order to receive further treatment.
