How Did This Accident Occur?
At an intersection like this, vehicles tend to collide when someone fails to yield the right-of-way. Perhaps something less common led to this crash. But let’s say, for example, someone disregarded the light and caused this crash. That would make things pretty open-and-shut, right? Well, not always. It can surprise folks just how little attention some traffic accidents get.
For instance, I had a case a while back where two cars crashed at a light, and police essentially abandoned the investigations. Both drivers accused each other of running the light, and the investigating officer couldn’t make heads or tails of it. So, he basically threw up his arms and said, “Y’all figure it out yourselves.” So, one of the drivers asked us to look into things.
Something authorities never bothered to look for was nearby cameras. We found a business along the road which had security cameras with a view of the road. The video clearly showed the other driver ran the light, and that pretty much sealed things. Considering how time-sensitive video evidence is, it’s a good thing the victim sought a second opinion as promptly as they did.
I’m not saying authorities here are mishandling anything. They could be doing a good job and considering this crash thoroughly. My point is that just because a crash like this seems routine doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges for those involved. It’s important victims and families always have someone looking out for their needs, whether that’s authorities or independent professionals.
I see no reason why this crash would be an exception to that, but if you disagree, let me know why in the comments.
