Police didn’t specify if they think alcohol or drugs contributed to the “intoxication” portion of this crash. Depending on the answer, there may be future charges for authorities to pursue. For example, I handled a wrongful death case against a bar recently where authorities were simultaneously pursuing charges against the bartender for over-serving the driver responsible for the accident.
This crash happened during one of the busiest times for bars and other alcohol providers, and therefore one of the times where the most drunk drivers are out on the road after a night out. If authorities look into where the allegedly intoxicated driver was prior to the crash, are they going to find an accomplice to this tragic event who also needs to have their day in front of a judge?
