Steve Alderman Killed in Semi-Truck Accident in Permiscot County, MO

According to state officials, 76-year-old Steve Alderman was in a Ram Promaster van going southbound along I-55. While doing so, it’s said that a Kenworth also going southbound crashed into the back of Alderman’s van. This caused the van to run off-road where it then overturned. Alderman died as a result.

There’s no mention of charges right now, and the exact circumstances leading to the crash are still unclear.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Folks tend to see a rear-end collision and just assume the truck driver would be at fault here. While that isn’t always true (someone cutting off the rear driver, for example), it’s most common that a rear-end collision is the result of things like speeding, following too closely, or distracted driving. Is this yet another such crash? And if so, are authorities taking the proper steps to gather and preserve the evidence that will be necessary to ensure there is accountability for this awful event?
