Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If it’s true that someone left the scene here, did authorities ever look into why? Investigations usually show there were reasons besides panic or not knowing the collision occurred that lead to people leaving the scene. More often, they had something specific to hide from authorities, such as drunk driving, drugs, or warrants. That could mean, then, that there are multiple things the suspect driver needs to be held accountable for. Every family I can ever recall working with would certainly want to know there was going to be accountability for the harm done to them, so that sort of thing is important to follow up on.
