Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, it’s important to consider even factors that may seem unlikely. Were there mechanical issues? Did a tire blow out? Was the driver unlawfully over-served by a bar? Did another driver run them off the road? Was there something wrong with the roadway itself?
People tend to just assume the driver was either speeding or on their phone. As common as those factors are, jumping to conclusions doesn’t do any good, and it risks letting important details slip through the cracks. That’s why it’s important to know in these situations if authorities are actually letting the evidence speak for itself or if they, too, are jumping to conclusions.
