Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When it comes to single-vehicle accidents like this, folks tend to assume things will be simple. There’s only one vehicle involved, so how could things be complicated? Well, even single-vehicle wrecks can present unique challenges. In fact, things can be even more challenging since authorities sometimes see crashes like this as a low priority. They might jump to conclusions or move on before really getting the whole story. A vehicle defect, for example, might require a lot of time, experience, and specialized tools to investigate. I’m used to having independent investigators handling that kind of task, but relying solely on the authorities for that often leads to important details slipping through the cracks. So while it’s not clear what happened here, it’s very possible there’s more to the story than what’s been confirmed so far.
