Ellis County, TX — February 9, 2025, an Ennis man was injured in a single-car accident shortly before 11:00 p.m. along Interstate Highway 45.
According to authorities, a 31-year-old man from Ennis was traveling in a northbound Ford Explorer on I.H. 45 in the vicinity north of State Highway 34 when the accident took place.

When a single-vehicle rollover accident results in serious injuries, many assume the driver simply lost control. However, after 30 years of investigating crashes, I’ve learned that assumption can overlook critical contributing factors. Without a thorough examination, key details that could explain why the accident happened may go undiscovered.
First, did authorities conduct a thorough investigation? While police reports document basic facts—such as the vehicle overturning and striking an embankment—they may not explore the underlying causes. Was there an unexpected road hazard? Did the design of the embankment contribute to the severity of the crash? Were investigators able to rule out the possibility that another driver’s actions forced the vehicle off course? If these questions remain unanswered, the official report may fail to tell the full story.
Second, has anyone considered whether a mechanical failure or defect played a role? A sudden tire blowout, brake failure, or steering issue could have caused the driver to lose control. If such a failure occurred, it’s critical to determine whether it was the result of a manufacturing defect, improper maintenance, or another factor. Unfortunately, if no one inspects the vehicle properly, valuable evidence could be lost before anyone realizes it was there.
Finally, has all available electronic data been reviewed? Modern vehicles store critical crash-related data, such as speed, braking, and steering inputs.
