How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s easy for most people to jump the gun and assume that single-vehicle accidents are the fault of the person behind the wheel. It’s understandable, considering the fact that human error plays a role in most car accidents. After over three decades in this line of business, I’ve learned not to jump to conclusions, though. Why? Because, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze thousands of car accidents. I’ve seen plenty of cases in which evidence of less likely causes ended up being unearthed by the investigation.

I don’t want to give the impression that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation would, to be clear. As far as I am aware, driver error remains on the table as a possible cause. However, I would like to point out that, hypothetically, something could have gone wrong with the pickup itself to cause the wreck. Was it dealing with steering mechanism issues? Maybe it had had a tire blowout? Have throttle problems or brake failure been considered? To be honest, vehicles are complex machines; the list of possible problems goes on and on.

An in-depth vehicle inspection would be able to pinpoint any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that had a hand in the wreck rather than allowing them to fly under the radar. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get one done. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding of how it happened and why things ended up the way they did. Surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
