Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, something happened to cause the woman to somehow fall from the vehicle. She reportedly sustained serious injuries, as a result. How Did This Accident Occur?

When it comes to accidents like this one, people tend to be quick to blame the victim, even when details are obscure about how it actually happened. I have been in this line of business for over three decades, though. In that timespan, I’ve seen so many different cases that go against the grain of the stereotype that I’ve learned to avoid jumping to conclusions.

The truth is, we still know very little about what happened to cause that woman to fall. Could it have been the result of the actions of the driver? Sure. Might it also have been a product defect or safety system malfunction? Absolutely. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get to the bottom of it.

When push comes to shove, the people affected by this accident deserve to be given a clear and detailed understanding as to how and why it took place. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation won’t cut it; especially when those assumptions conveniently cast all the blame on the victim.
