Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Frankly, I wonder if there’s more to this story that authorities are overlooking. On the one hand, it’s not often one person in a vehicle has serious injuries while the person right next to them is apparently fine. But more than that, all authorities say is that the vehicle hit a fence. When I look at this stretch of road, unless the images I’m seeing are out of date, all I see are chain link fences. That’s not the sort of obstacle that usually causes serious injuries.

So what gives? Did the vehicle hit more than just a fence? Were there other aspects of the crash not mentioned by authorities? Did investigators consider a possible defect with the victim’s seatbelt or airbag? Things just aren’t adding up, and my concern is authorities may be providing as few answers behind the scenes as they are publicly.
