Harris County, TX — September 12, 2025, Shawn Kelley and Melissa Kelley were kiilled as the result of a motorcycle accident at 3:47 a.m. on FM 1960.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened near the McKay Bridge in Atascocita.
According to county officials, Shawn Kelley and Melissa Kelley were on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle going along FM 1960 Road East. A Dodge Ram going northbound reportedly failed to yield, resulting in a collision with the motorcycle.
Due to the accident, both Shawn and Melissa Kelley were killed. There were no other reported injuries. At this time, additional details remain unconfirmed.

As straight-forward as these preliminary reports may seem, it’s important to consider potential challenges following any serious crash. That’s especially true with motorcycle wrecks.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are biased against riders, and insurance companies know this. That means telling the victims’ side of the story fairly can present significant challenges.
As usual, though, the best answer is having as much evidence as possible. Unfair biases can only go so far when there are clear facts telling the story. That’s why preliminary reports like these likely just scratch the surface.
