UPDATE (June 21, 2024): Authorities released information which identified one of the pedestrians in the accident as 20-year-old Sergio Regino Valdez. It appears Regino Valdez succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident. The other victim was not identified. Details show authorities recommended charges against the alleged runaway driver, but further specifics can’t be confirmed right now.
Midland, TX — May 27, 2024, two pedestrians were injured in a hit-and-run car accident at approximately 2:00 a.m. along East Florida Avenue.
According to authorities, the accident took place on East Florida Avenue in the vicinity of the South Baird Street intersection.

Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, two pedestrians were struck by a Cadillac SUV occupied by a 36-year-old man. The Cadillac reportedly left the scene, failing to stop and render aid of any sort to the victims. The man who had been in the hit-and-run vehicle was later located, according to reports.
One of the two pedestrians suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the accident; the other sustained injuries, as well, and their condition is said to be stable. No other injuries have been reported.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
