St. George, UT — April 7, 2025, a man was killed as the result of a drowning accident at around 1:00 p.m. at a senior living center.
Preliminary details about the incident say it happened at Legacy Village of St. George along Dixie Drive.

At this time, officials say that the man was a resident at the facility and was in a wheelchair he was “new to using.” Somehow, the wheelchair drove into a pool at the facility, ultimately leading to the man drowning.
Right now, there are no other confirmed details about factors leading to the accident. Investigations continue.

These reports raise a lot more questions than they answer. Why was the man able to drive into the pool? Why was there no one able to react quickly enough to save him? What more do authorities know about the man’s experience with this wheelchair, and why would that cause it run forward like that? Have there been other issues with a lack of staff oversight or any other similar incidents at this facility? Some of the language I’ve seen in the news seems to write all this off as just some unavoidable, out of the blue accident, but experience tells me there should be a lot more evidence telling what really happened here.
