Bolingbrook, IL — June 23, 2023, one person was killed and one was injured after a semi-truck accident early Friday along I-55.
Preliminary details about the fatal truck accident say that it happened at approximately 3:23 a.m. along northbound lanes of the interstate in the area of mile marker 267.
According to officials, the incident occurred after two people reportedly pulled onto the right shoulder, then got out of the vehicle. Those two people were said to be standing along the shoulder when a semi-truck somehow struck both people. That semi-truck then left the scene.
As a result of the collision, one person succumbed to fatal injuries while the other pedestrian sustained injuries said to be serious. Police did not offer a description of the semi-truck reportedly involved in the accident. Investigations are ongoing at this time.
