Madison County, IL — June 20, 2023, two people were injured as the result of a semi-truck accident Tuesday afternoon on State Route 4.
Preliminary details about the crash say that it took place at around 1:35 p.m. in the area of the Route 4 and Blue Spruce Lane intersection.
According to current information, the incident happened as a Mercury Mariner was going southbound along the highway. The Mariner reportedly slowed down to make a left turn onto a private drive. While the Mariner did so, it appears a semi-truck, also going southbound, attempted to pass the SUV on the left. This caused the truck to crashed into the side of the Mariner as the SUV turned left.
As a result of the collision, two people who were in the SUV were taken from the scene with injuries believed to be serious. One of those people had to be airlifted from the scene due to their condition. The drivers of the two vehicles were apparently uninjured.
Right now, there is no further information regarding the cause of the crash nor whether or not there are charges being considered. Investigations continue.
