According to authorities, 42-year-old Sarah Jones and a 15-year-old passenger were traveling in a Toyota Prius on Interstate Highway 4 near Albany when the accident took place.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Prius collided with the rear-end of a box truck. Both Jones and the teen who had been in the Prius with her sustained fatal injuries over the course of the wreck, according to reports. No other injuries have been reported.
